Lehigh Township Lehigh Township is a recycling mandated community. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requires Lehigh Township residents and businesses to recycle.

Residents are required to recycle aluminum, glass, newsprint and yard waste (leaves, branches, etc.).

Businesses are required to recycle aluminum, corrugated paper, high grade office paper and yard waste (leaves, branches, etc.).

All containers for recycling should be rinsed before placing the container into the recycling containers. Clean materials are important to make the recycling programs the most beneficial and cost effective.

Single Stream Recycling
Did you know that if your recycling hauler is a single stream recycler, you may put ALL of your recycling in the same bin. You do NOT need to separate glass, plastic or paper. Please contact your recycling hauler to verify.

New Rules for Recycling Electronic Devices
The PA Department of Environmental Protection is advising consumers and businesses of new rules for recycling electronic devices that will take effect on January 24, 2013. Enacted in 2010, the Pennsylvania Covered Device Recycling Act prohibits the disposal of covered devices (such as computers, laptops, monitors and televisions) with residential trash. General Information

THE LEHIGH TOWNSHIP YARD WASTE CENTER IS FOR RESIDENTS ONLY, NO COMMERCIAL DUMPING; VIOLATORS SUBJECT TO FINES.

Lehigh Township will accept yard waste only. All Lehigh Township residents may drop off unbagged leaves, tree branches and hedge clippings. The tree branches must be cut into 8 foot lengths and shall not be larger than 5 inches in diameter. Grass clippings and bamboo are not accepted. The drop off site is across the street from the municipal garage.

Bamboo, sod and large logs and stumps are not accepted at the Lehigh Township facility or the FRCA facility on Weaversville Road.

*As a reminder, the leaves, tree branches and hedge clippings are to be unloaded in their marked areas, do not put these items in the green bins. The green bins are used for transportation of these materials to the FRCA site.

Please adhear to the posted operating hours of Monday thru Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. CLOSED on Sunday and ALL holiday's

If you are a resident and need to dispose of grass clippings, you may do so at the First Regional Compost Authority (FRCA) located at 6701 Weaversville Road, Northampton, PA. Access the "Yardwaste Collection" tab through this website or enter the FRCA website for further information.

    Blue recycling bins can be purchased at the Municipal Building for $7.50.

    Guidance on Materials that are generally hazardous waste

    Remember, always err on the side of caution, when in doubt assume hazardous. Here's a link to PADEP hazardous waste definitions: www.dep.state.pa.us If you find hazardous waste during a stream or trail clean up event, please leave it where it is and contact the DEP at 570-826-2511. If it is during regular business hours, ask to talk to Waste Management Program, Operations Section. If you call after hours you will reach The DEP Emergency Response Team.
